Sar gonjeshki, Tehran meatball stew
Small, ground meat meatballs, ground rice, and grated potatoes, poached in a tomato sauce with turmeric. A Persian stew.
Sar gonjeshki is a typical stew from the Tehran province. The meatballs are very small, about the size of a sparrow’s head, which is why they are called “sar gonjeshki” (sparrow meatballs).
