Directions
- Warm the wine in a saucepan, but do not let it boil.
- Peel the oranges thoroughly and cut them into pieces. ≈ 8 min
- Light the fuel source of the stove and place the mug of mulled wine on top. ≈ 3 min
- Place the punch bowl across the saucepan, and the sugar bread in the center. ≈ 3 min
- Fill a ladle halfway with rum and slowly pour it over the sugar bread to soak it, then bake it. ≈ 10 min
- When the flame begins to die down, fill the ladle about three-quarters full with rum and pour it in slowly. Be careful: pouring too quickly can cause the rum to ignite in the ladle and create a large flame. Never pour directly from the bottle.
- Remove the tongs and add another half-cup to a ladle of rum that hasn’t been flambéed. ≈ 3 min
- Add the cinnamon, cloves, and orange, and let it steep for 5 minutes on the stovetop.
