The Shahzada salad, also known as the “prince’s salad,” is a traditional Azerbaijani dish made in layers. Shredded beef, pickled garlic, grated eggs, and grilled walnuts are layered together, separated by mayonnaise. It should be prepared in advance to be served fresh.

Directions
- Cook the meat in salted water, then shred it into small pieces.
- Grate the pickles using the coarse side of the grater. Mince the garlic and mix it with the pickles. ≈ 8 min
- Boil the eggs, peel them, and grate them in the same way. ≈ 8 min
- Chop the walnuts roughly with a knife and toast them in a dry pan for a few minutes.
- First, spread the shredded meat evenly in the serving dish and then cover it with mayonnaise. ≈ 4 min
- Cover with a layer of garlic and pickle, then top with mayonnaise. ≈ 3 min
- Add the grated egg and top with mayonnaise. ≈ 3 min
- Finish with finely chopped and toasted walnuts.
