Ground apple with peanuts
A thick, South American-style chili: mashed potatoes, onion, garlic, and achiote, combined with a peanut-based cream and seasoned with cinnamon.
This pían is a thick, ground apple and peanut puree, colored with achiote. It is best enjoyed immediately after cooking, while still hot.

Directions
- Wash the apples and remove the “eyes” with the tip of a knife. ≈ 2 min
- Cut them into slices that are neither too thick nor too thin. ≈ 8 min
- Chop the large onion and the green onion, then crush the garlic. ≈ 8 min
- Place the potatoes, onion, green onion, and garlic in a large pot, with only 360 ml of water. ≈ 3 min
- Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil paint. ≈ 3 min
- Add 1 tablespoon of achiote coloring and 1 teaspoon of salt to the mixture. The coloring is achiote powder mixed with water. ≈ 3 min
- Add the cinnamon stick. ≈ 3 min
- While cooking, blend the peanuts with 150 ml of water. Pour this mixture into the pot when the apples are cooked to a puree-like consistency. ≈ 4 min
- Continue to mash and grind the apples with the wooden spoon until the puree is thick and dry. ≈ 4 min
- Serve immediately after cooking. ≈ 2 min
