Gudeg is a signature dish from Yogyakarta, in Indonesia. It is made with unripe mangoes cooked in coconut milk, and is typically served with rice and a variety of side dishes.

Directions

  1. Place the mangoes in a pot with spices and water, and cook until they are tender and have turned a reddish color. Then, remove from the heat.
  2. Let it rest for a night in a pot.
  3. Serve with a sauce in the middle. ≈ 2 min
  4. Continue to stir the chopped spices until they are fragrant, then add the chicken and mix well.
  5. Cook the chicken inside a pot, covered, until it changes color.
  6. Pour the coconut cream over the chicken and cook until the chicken is cooked through, then remove.
  7. Serve with fried onions. ≈ 2 min
  8. Add all the ingredients and spices to the pot or pan.
  9. Heat until the spices are well incorporated, or until the water has completely evaporated.

  • 2 farm chickens, cut into pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups of coconut milk
  • French-fried onions
  • 250 g of beef “krecek” (remove the skin before cooking)
  • 500 g of tempeh, cut into small pieces
  • red chili peppers, to your liking
  • 900 ml of water
