Directions

  1. First, thoroughly wash the fish pieces and drain them. ≈ 2 min
  2. Next, mix them with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder, and let them marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. In a blender, combine the shredded coconut, dried red chili peppers, whole parsley, whole cumin, ginger, garlic, and a little water to create a smooth paste (Goan paste). ≈ 3 min
  4. Heat a pot over the stove.
  5. Once the oil paint is warm, add the chopped onion and cook until it turns a golden color.
  6. Once the onions have been sautéed, add the diced tomatoes and sliced fresh chili peppers. ≈ 3 min
  7. Simmer over medium heat until the tomatoes are tender and not falling apart.
  8. Next, pour the prepared coconut and spice mixture into the container. ≈ 3 min
  9. Then, season with a pinch of salt and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the dough begins to release its oil.
  10. When preparing the sauce, add lemon juice and 1 cup of water (adjust to your preference) and let it simmer.
  11. Once the sauce has thickened sufficiently, gently add the marinated fish pieces.
  12. Cover and cook over medium heat for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
  13. Once the fish is cooked, remove the lid and add the thick coconut milk to the broth.
  14. Stir gently for 2 to 3 minutes over low heat (do not cook further once coconut milk has been added).
  15. Once the broth has been properly seasoned, turn off the heat.
