Directions
- Peel the onions (medium to small size) and finely chop them into thin strips. ≈ 8 min
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add the onions and salt and let them simmer for 5 minutes.
- Drain the onions and spread them out on a clean dishcloth to dry. Then, place a pan on the stove.
- Pour the enough oil paint so that the onions float. ≈ 3 min
- Once the oil paint is warm, add the onions and turmeric. Allow them to soften, without stirring with a spoon beforehand. ≈ 4 min
- To stir them, gently rotate the pan. When the onions float to the surface, mix them in a circular motion until they are golden brown, then quickly remove them from the oil.
- Onions burn very quickly: remove them from the oil immediately and place them on a metal rack to drain excess oil. Once cooled, pack them and store them in the freezer.
