Directions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a pot to 350 °F (177 °C). Make sure the pot is large enough so that the vegetable oil does not fill it more than halfway.
- In a bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. Set aside. ≈ 4 min
- Cut the slices of bacon in half, lengthwise. ≈ 8 min
- Wrap each scallop in a strip of bacon, then secure it with a toothpick. ≈ 3 min
- Fry the shells in small batches to prevent overloading the deep-fat fryer. Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes.
- Remove the shells from the mussels and rinse them briefly. ≈ 2 min
- Combine the shells with the teriyaki and soy sauce mixture. ≈ 4 min
- Serve immediately. ≈ 2 min
