Directions
- By hand, mix together the flour, margarine, lard, and salt until you have a smooth, even mixture. ≈ 3 min
- Add two tablespoons of cold water to form a soft but firm ball. ≈ 10 min
- Place the dough on a floured surface, dividing it into two discs the size of the mold. Then, press the dough into the mold with one of the discs. ≈ 3 min
- Do not pre-cook the apples: they will lose their flavor and turn to mush. Peel them and cut them into slices of 3 to 6 mm thick.
- Squeeze the lemons over them, then mix them by hand with 100g of sugar and a few pieces of cinnamon. ≈ 4 min
- Place them in the mold without the juice, so that the pie doesn’t bubble in the oven. ≈ 3 min
- Mix the remaining sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and cornstarch together, and pour over the apples. ≈ 4 min
- Dot with butter, cover with the second disc, and weld the edges together using a fork. ≈ 2 min
- Cut the top into a V-shape or a diamond shape, brush with milk, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. ≈ 4 min
- Bake at approximately 175 °C (350 °F) for about 60 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown.
- Serve hot, with ice cream or custard. ≈ 2 min
