This coconut chutney is one of the most popular accompaniments in southern India. It is typically served with dosas, idlis, upma, or vada.

Directions

  1. Combine the coconut, green chili peppers, ginger, salt, curry leaves, and water in a bowl to form a paste. ≈ 4 min
  2. Pour in the chutney into a small bowl. ≈ 3 min
  3. In a small pan, heat the oil paint, then add the mustard, followed by the red chili peppers and curry leaves for the tadka.
  4. Pour, and mix well. ≈ 4 min
  5. Serve with dosas or idlis. ≈ 2 min

  • 2 to 3 green chili peppers
  • One small piece of ginger
  • One bunch of curry leaves
  • salt
  • 120 ml of water
  • 1/4 cup of mustard seeds
  • 1 to 2 dried red chili peppers
  • One bunch of curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of oil paint
