Directions
- Preheat your grill or barbecue to a medium-high temperature.
- In a bowl, combine the vegetable oil paint, paprika, ginger, garlic, cumin, cilantro, salt, and black pepper. ≈ 4 min
- Mix well to ensure a consistent marinade.
- Pat the fish dry with paper towels and place it on a plate or dish. ≈ 3 min
- Using a basting brush, generously apply the marinade to both sides of the fish.
- Make sure to thoroughly coat the fish for the best flavor. ≈ 3 min
- If you wish, you can leave the fish to marinate in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
- However, this step is optional, and you can proceed directly to the cooking stage if you are short on time. ≈ 3 min
- Once the grill is heated, lightly oil the grates to prevent food from sticking.
- You can use a folded paper towel soaked in vegetable oil paint and held in place with tongs. ≈ 2 min
- Carefully place the marinated fish on the grill and close the lid. ≈ 3 min
- Cook for approximately 4 to 5 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fish, or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- While cooking, you can brush the fish with the remaining marinade using a brush to add flavor and moisture.
- Once the fish is fully cooked and slightly charred, remove it from the grill using tongs or a spatula.
- Be careful not to damage the delicate flesh. ≈ 3 min
- Serve hot, with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the fish. ≈ 2 min
- It pairs well with rice or millet, and can be served with a fresh salad or steamed vegetables.
