Directions
- First, gently clean the glassfish in clean water, rinsing them several times. ≈ 8 min
- Next, place them in a sieve to drain off any remaining water. ≈ 2 min
- (Glassfish are very delicate, so they need to be handled with care during cleaning). ≈ 3 min
- Next, prepare a large bowl with canned glass fish, chopped onion, mustard paste, chili paste, turmeric powder, salt to taste, chopped cilantro, and 2 tablespoons of fresh mustard oil. ≈ 3 min
- Gently mix all the ingredients together by hand (making sure not to break the fish). ≈ 4 min
- Let the fish marinate for 10 minutes.
- In the meantime, prepare the banana leaves. ≈ 3 min
- Carefully wash and dry the banana slices cut into a square shape. ≈ 2 min
- Next, turn the heat to medium and cook the leaves on both sides for a few minutes.
- (This will allow the leaves to become soft and prevent them from tearing when they are folded). ≈ 3 min
- First, place a cooked banana on a flat surface. ≈ 4 min
- Next, evenly distribute a mixture of fish and spices (about 2-3 tablespoons) in the center of the lettuce leaf. ≈ 3 min
- Sprinkle the fish mixture with fresh whole chili peppers or chili pepper slices, along with a few drops of fresh mustard oil. ≈ 2 min
- Now, gently fold the banana leaves around the leaf, forming a rectangle or square (like an envelope), so that the inside cannot come out in any way. ≈ 3 min
- To prevent the fold from tearing, wrap it securely with a clean thread. ≈ 3 min
- In this way, fill the leaves with the filling and assemble the packages or packaging. ≈ 10 min
- Place a large frying pan or skillet on the stove and heat it up.
- Next, apply about 1 to 2 tablespoons of mustard oil paint to the surface. ≈ 4 min
- Once the oil paint is warm, gently place the pasta pieces into the pan.
- Reduce the heat to a minimum and cover the pan with a lid.
- After cooking the leaves on one side for 8 to 10 minutes, until they are tender and slightly golden, carefully flip them over.
- Flip the leaves and cook them for the same amount of time, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Remove them from the heat as soon as the leaves are cooked through and have a slightly golden color. ≈ 3 min
- Just before serving, cut or remove the wires, then serve immediately. ≈ 8 min
