Directions

  1. Place the walnuts and cinnamon in a blender. ≈ 3 min
  2. Mix the walnuts until they form a fine powder. ≈ 4 min
  3. Place the butter in a pot and melt it. ≈ 3 min
  4. Line a baking pan with parchment paper. ≈ 3 min
  5. Determine the number of phyllo sheets and divide it by eight. ≈ 3 min
  6. Place one-eighth of a sheet of pastry paper on the parchment paper. ≈ 3 min
  7. Cut the walnut pieces into seven equal portions. ≈ 3 min
  8. Brush the phyllo dough with butter and some of the chopped walnuts. ≈ 3 min
  9. Place the remaining eighth of phyllo dough on top of the butter and chopped walnut-covered leaf. ≈ 3 min
  10. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you have used all the phyllo sheets. ≈ 3 min
  11. Cut the baklava into eight pieces, radially, like the Union Jack. ≈ 8 min
  12. The baklava was baked for 25 minutes at 180 °C.
  13. In a separate bowl, combine the vanilla extract, honey, sugar, and water. ≈ 4 min
  14. Do not use the same blender that you used to melt the butter.
  15. Heat the four ingredients in the pot until they form a viscous mixture of approximately 240 ml.
  16. Wait for the baklava and syrup to cool down.
  17. Pour the syrup over the baklava. ≈ 3 min
  18. Make sure that each layer of the baklava receives an equal amount of syrup. ≈ 3 min
