Directions
- Prepare the apples: First, wash the apples, peel them, and cut them into medium-sized pieces. ≈ 8 min
- Heat the sesame oil: Heat sesame oil in a pan, then add cumin (optional).
- Preparing the spices: sauté the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger in oil until they are nicely browned. ≈ 3 min
- Next, add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chili pepper, cumin, and powdered cilantro, and continue cooking until the spices have fully absorbed the oil. ≈ 3 min
- Mix the apple filling: Once the oil paint starts to separate from the spices, it’s important to thoroughly mix the chopped apples with the spices. ≈ 4 min
- Add water: Pour in the necessary amount of water into the mixture, cover, and simmer over medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes, until the apples are tender and the sauce has thickened.
