The apple and earth cake, also known as “pizza di mele e terra,” is a traditional Italian dish that can be adapted in many ways. Here, we have adapted it for a Belgian audience, adding cheeses and spices to create a unique flavor.

Directions
- Cook the apples, peel them, and mash them.
- Add the butter (or oil paint), Parmesan cheese, eggs, and diced ham, scamorza, and mozzarella, then thoroughly mix everything together in a food processor. ≈ 4 min
- Grease a dish, place it in the refrigerator, then sprinkle breadcrumbs on the bottom.
- Pour the puree into the dish and spread it evenly with a spatula. ≈ 4 min
- Brush the mashed potatoes with egg yolk (optional) and sprinkle the surface with breadcrumbs and small pieces of butter. ≈ 4 min
- Bake in the oven at 180 °C (350 °F) for 30 to 40 minutes (depending on thickness), until a golden crust forms.
