This Malaysian-inspired chicken and rice dish is cooked in a chicken stock, with garlic, ginger, onion, and a vanilla pod. The chicken, which has been lacquered with sauces and pan-fried, is served immediately.

Directions
- Bring the chicken and all the bouillon ingredients to a boil.
- Remove the chicken and pat it dry. ≈ 2 min
- Reserve half of the broth to cook the rice, and the other half to make a soup.
- Marinate the poached chicken in oyster sauce, light soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and honey.
- Fry the chicken until it is golden brown.
- Cut the chicken just before serving. ≈ 8 min
- Heat some oil paint and a bit of butter in a pot.
- Continue to sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until they are fragrant.
- Add the chicken fat, and mix thoroughly until the oil paint separates. ≈ 4 min
- Add the rice and mix again. ≈ 4 min
- Finally, add the chicken broth, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Cook as you would regular rice.
