Directions
- Mix the flour and salt. ≈ 4 min
- Dig a hole in the center, into which you place the yeast. ≈ 3 min
- In the bowl, pour in 350 ml of lukewarm water and mix gently until you have a smooth paste. ≈ 4 min
- Let it rest until it has doubled in volume.
- In the meantime, finely chop the onions and sauté them in a little oil or butter (this step is omitted in the sweet version). ≈ 8 min
- Dice the apples into small pieces and cook them in a pan for 2 minutes.
- Add the slightly cooled apple puree to the dough and mix thoroughly.
- Next, sprinkle with flour and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Carefully remove 2 pieces of dough from the bowl and place them on a floured baking sheet. ≈ 3 min
- Then, let it rise for an additional 20 minutes.
- It’s important not to overwork the dough at this stage, so that the bread will be well-risen in the end. ≈ 3 min
- Preheat the oven and bake the bread for 40 to 45 minutes.
- If necessary, cover with parchment paper. ≈ 3 min
- Let it cool on a wire rack.
