Directions
- Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl. Mix until a smooth and even batter forms, then incorporate the softened butter at room temperature. ≈ 4 min
- Once the dough is smooth, add the flour, cornstarch, yeast, milk, and grated lemon zest. ≈ 3 min
- Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks, adding a pinch of salt, and gently fold them into the batter. ≈ 10 min
- Grease and flour a 24 cm (9-inch) baking dish, pour in the dough, and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (350 °F) for 45 to 50 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool. Dust it with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
