Homemade pita bread, soft and fluffy
Homemade bread pitas: a simple dough made with flour and olive oil, spread into flat circles that puff up during baking to form a pocket.
The pita bread is made with a very simple dough: flour, yeast, salt, and a little oil. Spread thinly into flat circles, they rise in the oven and then deflate, leaving a nice hollow.

Directions
- Mix all the ingredients together and knead until a smooth and even dough forms. Always flour your hands and the work surface to prevent the dough from sticking. ≈ 10 min
- Divide the dough into balls of approximately 50g each. Knead each ball briefly and let them rest for about 30 minutes.
- Flatten and spread each ball into a round patty, about 20 cm in diameter. ≈ 10 min
- Place them on a floured cloth to prevent them from sticking, and let them rise until they have approximately doubled in volume.
- Place them in a preheated oven at 220 °C (428 °F) on a lightly oiled baking sheet for about 10 minutes. They will rise during baking, then deflate slightly when removed, leaving a hollow center.
