Homemade black grape jam
A dark grape jam with a low sugar content, cooked slowly and then strained, to be bottled and stored for more than a year in a cool place.
This jam is made with very sweet black grapes, which is why it contains a relatively small amount of sugar. It is cooked slowly and then strained, and can be stored for more than a year in sterilized jars.

Directions
- Thoroughly wash the grapes, then remove the stems. ≈ 2 min
- Place the grapes in a deep pot and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until a grape crushed between your fingers completely breaks down.
- Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- Place the grapes in a sieve that isn’t too fine, and move your hand in a circular motion. Discard the remaining seeds and skins in the sieve. ≈ 3 min
- Return the pureed mixture to the pot, add the sugar, and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally.
- To check the consistency, place a spoonful of jam on a plate and let it cool slightly: the correct consistency will be apparent when cold (allowing approximately 1 hour of cooking time, depending on the grape).
- Once the jam has reached the desired consistency, remove it from the heat and pour it into sterilized jars. Seal them immediately, turn them upside down, and let them cool: the heat will seal the jars tightly.
- Store in a cool place for more than a year. Once opened, keep the jar in the refrigerator.
