Here’s how to cook simple pasta, whether it’s store-bought or homemade. Using plenty of water, a pinch of salt, and cooking it al dente will ensure a good result.

Directions

  1. Fill a large pot with water, making it deeper than wide: the pasta should not extend beyond half the height of the pot. Add the salt and oil. ≈ 10 min
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions.
  4. Without specific instructions, allow 5 to 7 minutes and taste the texture: the pasta should be tender but still firm when bitten. If it is hard, extend the cooking time by a few minutes, but avoid overcooking.
  5. Drain the pasta in a sieve. It’s not essential to rinse it with cold water, but it does help to stop the cooking process. ≈ 2 min

  • 250 g of uncooked pasta (preferably made from durum wheat semolina)
  • At least 2 liters of water are needed for 250 grams of pasta.
  • About 1/4 cup of salt for 500g of pasta
  • A touch of oil paint
