Dulce de leche is a pastry cream made with milk, typical of Argentina and Uruguay, and very popular throughout much of South America. It is also used, and especially, to decorate other desserts such as cakes, cookies, and ice cream. Its flavor is similar to that of caramel.

Directions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a non-stick pot. ≈ 3 min
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until you achieve a creamy consistency. The spoon should remain submerged, and as you stir, you should be able to see the bottom of the pot. This process may take between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the intensity of the heat.
  4. Pour servir, pour each portion, pour each serving, pour each individual, pour each person, pour each individual. Store in glass jars and keep in the refrigerator.
