Directions

  1. Mix the flour and sugar together. ≈ 4 min
  2. Add the baking powder and salt, then mix well. ≈ 4 min
  3. Pour each cup of hot water, add 1 tablespoon of sugar, then add the yeast and let it sit for 10 minutes until the yeast is fully dissolved.
  4. Once the yeast is dissolved, add the flour and sugar mixture to the water and yeast mixture. Mix well. ≈ 4 min
  5. Gradually add water to achieve a homogeneous mixture. The mixture should be pliable and easy to work with. Continue mixing until the mixture no longer sticks to your hands. ≈ 4 min
  6. Place the dough on a floured work surface, and then sprinkle with a layer of flour. If the dough is too wet, add a little more flour.
  7. Use both hands to knead and punch down the dough for 8 to 15 minutes. The longer you knead, the more tender and crusty the bread will be. You can let the dough rest in a loaf pan to make bread.
  8. Pour this, pour a little butter in a bowl, cover the dough with plastic wrap, and let it rise at room temperature for 2 hours, or faster if the weather is warm.
  9. After 2 hours, remove the dough from the container, punch it down to release any trapped air, and then form it into balls.
  10. Cut each ball of dough into equal portions. ≈ 10 min
  11. Flatten each portion of dough into circles. ≈ 3 min
  12. Place the dough circles over the sunflower seeds to cover them. ≈ 3 min
  13. Melt butter in a pan and fry the cakes until they are golden brown on both sides.
  14. Remove the cakes from the oven and serve them immediately. ≈ 2 min
