This traditional Swedish family dish is quick and easy to prepare: the sausage is scored and filled with cheese, then baked in the oven with onions and tomatoes.

Directions

  1. Remove the skin from the falukorv and place the entire sausage in a buttered, oven-safe dish. Make deep cuts, spaced about 1 cm apart, without cutting through the sausage. ≈ 3 min
  2. Cut a slice of cheese, spread a little ketchup or mustard on it, fold the slice, and slide it into a groove. Alternate grooves for mustard and ketchup. ≈ 8 min
  3. Mix the tomato paste or ketchup with water in a cup, and pour over the sausage. ≈ 4 min
  4. Cut the onion and tomatoes into approximately 8 pieces each and arrange them around the sausage. ≈ 8 min
  5. Bake in the oven halfway through for 25 to 30 minutes at 225 °C.
