Khatta tomato is a Bengali side dish with a sweet and sour flavor. Mulberry tomatoes are cooked with dates, grapes, and spices, resulting in a sweet and tangy flavor. It pairs well with rice or khichuri.

Directions
- Wash the tomatoes and cut them into large pieces. ≈ 8 min
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the panch phoron and dried red chili pepper.
- Add the green chili peppers and stir briefly, then add the tomatoes with a pinch of salt. Cover and let them soften. ≈ 4 min
- Once the tomatoes are ripe, add the dates and grapes, then the sugar and water. Mix well. ≈ 4 min
- Cook over medium heat until the liquid thickens and the dates are soft.
- If desired, you can also add a little amchur or tamarind juice for extra acidity. ≈ 3 min
- When the mixture is thick and glossy, turn off the heat. ≈ 3 min
