In Panama, this drink was introduced by Jamaican immigrants and is known as “saril.” It is often served during the holiday season with traditional Panamanian dishes.

Directions

  1. Wash the ginger flowers under cold water. ≈ 2 min
  2. Pour each 1 litre of water, bring it to a boil in a pot.
  3. Add the ginger flowers once the water begins to boil.
  4. Continue to heat until the water turns a deep red color.
  5. Remove the liquid and discard the ginger flowers. ≈ 3 min
  6. Add the remaining water and sugar. ≈ 3 min
  7. Add ice and let it cool.
  8. Serve according to individual preferences. ≈ 2 min

  • 125 g of ginger flowers
  • 4 liters of water
  • 125 grams of sugar
  • 100 grams of ice
