Chicken biryani, a fragrant rice dish with chicken, peanuts, and apples
A quick and easy Bengali snack: flattened rice, sautéed with onion, potato, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and turmeric, and topped with fried peanuts.
Polao, a cousin of Indian poha, is a light snack. The flattened rice, simply rinsed, is heated for a few minutes with ground nuts and apple sauce.
