Directions
- Combine the milk, margarine, sugar, and salt. ≈ 4 min
- Heat over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool.
- Add 1 cup of flour to the milk. ≈ 3 min
- Mix the starter until it is well incorporated. ≈ 4 min
- Then, add the onion powder and the eggs. ≈ 3 min
- Mix until the ingredients are combined, then gradually add the remaining flour, always mixing in the same direction, until all the flour is used. ≈ 4 min
- Give a gentle massage for about 15 minutes, then form a large ball of dough.
- Place it in a container filled with grease, cover it, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, knead it to remove any air, then divide it into 6 portions. ≈ 10 min
- Divide each portion into 5 pieces, shape them into long sticks, and arrange them in a row on a plate. ≈ 10 min
- Cover them with a slightly damp cloth and let them rest for about 20 minutes.
- Apply a thin layer of milk to the entire surface. ≈ 3 min
- Bake in the oven at 190 °C for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Then, remove the cakes from the oven, take them out of their molds, and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once they have cooled, arrange them in glasses or tall tubes for serving.
