La “barja” is a traditional drink from the Alt Urgell region in Catalonia. It consists of equal parts of anise and red wine, with no other preparation.

Directions

  1. Pour préparer the drink, pour a lowball glass or a glass that isn’t too large, add a small amount of anise liqueur and approximately the same amount of red wine. ≈ 3 min
  2. If you prefer a milder flavor, replace the red wine with Muscat, and serve it immediately. ≈ 2 min
