Knafeh with cream is a traditional dessert from the Middle Eastern region. Here’s how to make it at home.

Directions

  1. Combine the sugar and butter, then pour half of the mixture into a baking dish. ≈ 3 min
  2. Mix the milk and water over low heat.
  3. Once the mixture comes to a boil, we add the starch and water mixture. ≈ 3 min
  4. Remove the dish from the heat while stirring quickly, then add the cream, orange blossom water, and rose petals. ≈ 3 min
  5. Then, pour over this mixture onto the kunafa, and then we add the remaining half. ≈ 3 min
  6. We bake the dish until it is nicely browned, then remove it from the oven and sprinkle it with sugar syrup.
  7. Enjoy! ≈ 3 min
  8. We sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the outer layer. ≈ 3 min

Before you start

Ingredients

  • Kanafe box
  • Two tablespoons of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of heavy cream (or crème fraîche)
  • 4 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 cups of water (4 tablespoons of flour dissolved in half a cup of water)
  • One tablespoon of rose water and floral water
  • Cashew nuts, finely chopped, for decoration
