To end the evening, nothing beats a platter of treats to share: golden, tender yogurt cake squares, plus homemade brownies and butter cookies — fudgy chocolate bars on one side, little cookies that crunch under their pearl sugar on the other.

All three recipes are simple and bake one after another in the same oven, at the same temperature. The yogurt cake and the brownies are each made in a square pan, then cut into squares and bars once cooled; the cookies are piped with a pastry bag.

Enough to fill a lovely platter for coffee, with a few cookies left over for the next day.

Directions

Soft yogurt cake squares

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and butter a 20 cm square pan.
  2. Whisk the yogurt, sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs, then add the flour, baking powder and oil.
  3. Pour into the pan, sprinkle with a spoonful of sugar and bake for 25 minutes. Let cool slightly before cutting into squares.

Brownies

  2. Whisk the eggs with the sugar and salt, add the melted chocolate, then the flour.
  3. Pour into a 20 cm square pan lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes at 180 °C: the center should stay fudgy.
  4. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Pearl sugar butter cookies

  1. Beat the softened butter with the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar, add the egg white, then the flour.
  2. Pipe the dough into small rosettes on a parchment-lined baking sheet using a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
  3. Sprinkle with pearl sugar and bake for 12 minutes at 180 °C, until the edges are golden.
  4. Let cool on a wire rack, then arrange all three treats on a large platter.
